Area Business Development Lead (Independent Contractor) - California

Lightyear Health is looking for an experienced independent contractor to act as a traveling Area Business Development Lead in California to convert leads into clients by building, refining, and executing high-touch sales processes to grow and expand our business. We are looking for someone who can use their current connections in California to build relationships with SNF and groups in core markets. Please note that this is a contractor role and would not be eligible for employee benefits. 

We are a technology-enabled clinical services organization building a network of skilled nursing facilities to provide Physiatry services to our patients. Our team collaborates with individuals, families, and caregivers to design personalized care plans that address the holistic needs of each patient.

Key Outcomes: 

  • Travel within the metropolitan and smaller cities of California to meet facility leaders to expand access to Lightyear Health services to improve the health of their patients
  • Develop, implement, and execute effective sales strategies for enterprise sales pipelines to get prospects excited about our offerings
  • Hit the ground running by closing deals in the first two months of employment
  • Collaborate with the medical staff at facilities to help the client get a better understanding of the specialty services we provide (physical medicine & rehabilitation, behavioral health services)
  • Maintain a close rate with 10-15 facilities per quarter

The most important skills for the role are*:

  • Proven track record of managing enterprise sales from prospect outreach to closed deals. Experience with lead generation a plus
  • Ability to use current connections in California to help build sales pipeline. Connections in Texas and Virginia a plus. 
  • Prior field sales experience in the healthcare industry 
  • Strategically tailor discovery & closing strategies based on prospect’s needs and challenges
  • An empathic ability to connect with prospects and the ability to approach sales pitches through the eyes of the prospect
  • Ability to connect with and influence the right people
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with both internal and external stakeholders


We’re committed to an inclusive, consistent, and equitable approach to compensation. We expect OTE to be $200k +. This position has a commission component with no ceiling, so earning potential is unlimited.
