Licensed Clinical Social Worker

During my first week in college, I was struck by a quote by Frederich Buechner in one of my reading assignments. He says that the place we are called to is the place where our deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet. I always thought that place would be working with youth, and never could have imagined the rewarding career I’ve had the privilege of pursuing in geriatrics. Having grown up with a strong presence of older adults in my life, I had always had a healthy respect for their impact and legacies, but never realized the extent to which they may also face great challenges in ensuring their most basic needs be met with dignity. I believe in coming alongside patients and their families, not as the expert to dictate decisions, but rather as a collaborator to hold space for their journey that is uniquely theirs. Even in the face of broken systems, stigma and so many other barriers, their deep resilience and wisdom are what humbles and drives me daily.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Lightyear Health, I have the privilege of providing support to patients and families navigating life’s most challenging moments. We believe that a person’s economic, social, family, and psychological conditions play a role in an individual’s health, but should not limit the quality of care received. Using the core values of social work, the social work team strives to improve a patient’s overall well-being at every stage of life. We strive to empower patients and their support system to capitalize on each patient’s unique strengths and address potential risk factors found through our psychosocial evaluation.

I have my Bachelors in Psychology from Pepperdine University and my Masters of Social Work from the University of California Los Angeles. For six years, I have worked in home and community based services and nonprofits; providing case management, supportive counseling, and resource navigation for older adults and their families. Most recently, I supported federal grant initiatives serving special populations impacted by Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending simple quality time with my husband and daughter.
