Shortly after I moved to San Diego, my best friend was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer. I went with her to her first appointment and saw how poorly her blood draw was and I remembered how good I once was at that. Right then and there, I decided to go back into healthcare; helping folks in their time of need was and is a better fit for me.
As the Medical Assistant at Waltham Clinic, I am responsible for taking vital signs and setting up the Telehealth appointment with the patient and their provider. Above all, I’m there to listen.
After my time in the United States Air Force working in the computer networking department, I focused on developing my skills in healthcare. I used my G.I. Bill to get my EMT certification, Electrocardiograph technician certification and a phlebotomy license. I worked as a phlebotomist for 6 years and became a pediatric specialist. Once the crying got to me, I decided to try my hand at bartending so I became a full time bartender / mixologist. But then, I met the love of my life and we wanted to have a baby, so we did. Being so far away from family we decided to move back to San Diego, and it was during that time that I came to the realization that I was meant to help people.
Outside of work, my wife, Jessica, and my son, Maximus, are my life. Jessica is a hair stylist who keeps my hair looking good and healthy. Maximus is a monster truck enthusiast and an overall little charmer. We all enjoy a good Disney movie, going to the beach, skateboarding with Max, and pretty much anything fun.
