Psychiatric Physician Assistant

Lightyear Health is looking for a Psychiatric Physician Assistant to become part of a growing company that improves the functional independence and overall quality of life of the geriatric and disabled populations. This role is full-time Monday-Friday with no overnight calls and offers an excellent work-life balance and an opportunity to be an integral team member in a rapidly growing company.  

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Focus primarily on the Lightyear Health population of seniors with identified or suspected behavioral/mental health conditions and “adopt” these patients to add psychiatric expertise to the medical management plan and mitigate any negative impact that behavioral conditions can have on patient’s overall health and well-being.
  • Treat approximately 10 patients/day independently with minimal MD supervision/collaboration.
  • Treat patients via telemedicine in Assisted Living Facilities, Skilled Nursing Facilities, and Independent Living Facilities and periodically be available for in-person visits. 
  • Actively participate with Lightyear Health interdisciplinary team meetings to assure behavioral health issues are considered and addressed for all patients.
  • Establish and maintain effective therapeutic relationships with members and their legal representatives, facility staff, PCPs, and specialists to maximize continuity and compliance with individualized member care plans.
  • Perform an initial comprehensive assessment on all newly enrolled members and at least annually thereafter. Develops a member management care plan upon enrollment and updates it as needed when changes in condition warrant or following hospitalization.

We’d love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Empathy and a genuine interest in providing care for a geriatric population.
  • Current, unrestricted TX PA license.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a psychiatric hospital setting, either inpatient psychiatry or consultation liaison psychiatry
  • Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPC codes.
  • Bonus points: Awareness about UM standards, NCQA requirements, CMS guidelines, Milliman guidelines, and Medicaid/Medicare contracts and benefit systems.

It is the responsibility of the medicale staff to ensure that your licenses, certifications, and credentials are kept up to date and in good standing.

Anticipated Salary Range

We’re committed to an inclusive, consistent, and equitable approach to compensation and anticipate that this position will earn between $150k and $170k USD annually. The exact salary will depend on (1) how many years of relevant and transferable experience the candidate brings to the role and (2) the internal level at which the candidate is hired in relation to our career development framework. All team members also receive a stock option grant.
