I have spent much time in the healthcare system as a patient (6 orthopedic surgeries and over 2 years spent in casts and walking boots) as a caregiver, and as a physician. Each experience, in its own way, has driven home the importance of access to evidence-based specialty care, care coordination, respect, and empathy when caring for people at their most vulnerable times. Unfortunately, our most vulnerable population, the elderly, often receive inadequate care delivered without attention to preventative, functional, and behavioral health. This problem is magnified in the communities, like the ones that I grew up in, that face significant health disparities. We can do better as a society in helping our elders age with dignity and increased independence. I refuse to accept the status quo. I am guided by a mission to increase health equity and access to empathetic, evidence-based care in our elderly population.
As a physician at Waltham Clinic, I work with a great team to help improve the quality of life and functional independence of our most vulnerable population.
With triple board certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Brain Injury Medicine, and Clinical Informatics, I have over a decade of experience as an entrepreneur, founder and Chief Medical Officer of a successful post-acute care clinical services start up. Previously, I was a Medical Director in many healthcare verticals working with Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 companies including HCA healthcare, Cerner, and Aetna. I was also one of the first 5 physician leaders in the medical affairs department of a startup biotechnology company, Solstice Neurosciences (acquired by USWorldMeds).
My education background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology from Princeton University, a medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School, and residency at the Medical College of Virginia.
Outside of work, I spend my time with family and friends, practicing martial arts (Black belt Goju Ryu Karate), and hiking. I’m also a wannabe mathematician and a good music curator.
