Licensed Clinical Social Worker

About Kelsey McNeill

As an emergency department social worker, I would see our geriatric community members readmitted or stuck in the ED for long periods of time due to a lack of resources available for follow up and adequate care outside of the hospital. Working in such a fast paced environment, we had limited options for follow up care when discharging patients into the community. Waltham Clinic provided me with the opportunity to focus on the care I knew this population deserved and allowed me the pathways and the creative space to ensure my clients are receiving the type of care they need from an amazing interdisciplinary team. I want to help reduce readmission rates and hospitalizations in this population and I know our awesome team can do that.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Waltham Clinic, I have the privilege of providing support to patients and families navigating life’s most challenging moments. We believe that a person’s economic, social, family and psychological conditions play a role in an individual’s health, but should not limit the quality of care received. Using the core values of social work, the social work team strives to improve a patient’s overall well-being at every stage of life. We strive to empower patients and their support system to capitalize on each patient’s unique strengths and address potential risk factors found through our psychosocial evaluation. We also provide therapeutic intervention for those feeling the immense burden of caring for a loved one.

I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with minors in Sociology and German from Sonoma State University. After that, I went on to live and study in Germany for a year prior to attending and graduating from the University of Southern California with my Masters degree in social work.

Upon graduation, I began my career at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, working for the majority of my time in their emergency department, a Level 1 trauma center. I was a member of the Human Trafficking Taskforce, Emergency Medicine Supportive Care Team, and Interdisciplinary Emergency Care Team.

When I’m not working, I love spending time with my amazing husband and son and getting outdoors whenever we can!
